Summary
The Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an experienced Research Administration Associate to contribute to the day-to-day research administration activities of the Center’s robust research portfolio. The Center currently has nine faculty who are conducting funded research. This role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (3 days remote / 2 days onsite) within the Greater Houston, TX area after an initial training period.

Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay. Current BCM employees who are eligible to transfer are encouraged to apply.

Job Duties
Pre-Award Activities:
-Assist faculty in identifying funding opportunities and ensuring eligibility for grant submissions.
-Work with investigators to develop grant submissions for new, continuing and competing applications to include grant proposal preparation, budget preparation, subcontract packages, completion of required forms, as well as other administrative aspects of the proposal process.
-Serve as primary point of contact with Office of Sponsored Programs and other internal departments to submit applications and answer questions.
-Submit and monitor applications through the grant life cycle to include interpreting requirements and making recommendations to supported faculty.
-Track and report Center grant activity.

Post-Award Activities:
-Work with faculty to complete JIT requests and other prior approval requests.
-Manage setup and payment of contractors, advisory panel members, and vendors including the execution of vendor contracts and independent contractor agreements.
-Update research faculty and staff effort using BCM’s professional effort tracking software.

Other Responsibilities:
-Oversee organization and maintenance of departmental files relating to external funding.
-Represent department in a professional and appropriate manner within institution, as well as externally.
-Ensure compliance with all BCM policies and practices; local, state, federal, agency and sponsor rules, regulations and requirements regarding grant and/or contract administration.
-Assist faculty in the preparation of Other Support pages.
-Identify areas for improvement in the Center’s research mission including using new technologies and process improvement.
-Oversee Center's summer research internship programs and research student visitor requests.
-Assist with any departmental needs as required, to include special projects, financial and research reports.
-Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
