Researchers at Brigham Young University have found that a kind touch between persons reduces stress and lowers blood pressure, says USA Today. These findings were particularly true for a 30-minute massage in men for whom it caused the release of oxytocin, the hormone known to increase calm and reduce stress.
So, perhaps the best medicine is a little rubdown the next time you see your physician. If you are feeling stressed, skipp the antianxiety meds and go for the masseuse’s table.
