Speaker: Carey Candrian, PhD, Associate Professor, Division of General Internal Medicine; Director of the Science and Communication Lab at the University of Colorado School of Medicine; Health and Aging Policy Fellow, U.S. House of Representative.

This talk will describe the challenges LGBTQ people face when navigating healthcare as they age or approach end-of-life, and opportunities for creating an experience where more people can thrive. The talk will focus on the role of communication and its ability to help more people receive the care they want when they need it the most.

Learning Objectives: After this webinar, attendees will be able to:
1. Understand communication challenges impacting the LGBTQ community when accessing healthcare, especially as individuals age.
2. Describe the role fear plays in the healthcare system for LGBTQ people and the way it can impact care, and strategizes to help mitigate these challenges.
3. Identify concrete solutions for supporting and improving the way LGBTQ people are cared for as they age and approach end-of-life.

Upon request, Zoom attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance to apply for Continuing Education Units for their respective professions. We are not able to offer CEUs directly to attendees. Please note, you must attend a minimum of 75% of the live webinar to receive a certificate and certificates will only be issued for up to one week after the event. Certificates of Attendance will not be given for watching the recording – only for those attending the zoom session.

Health professions students are eligible for IPE credit. IPE credit is available only to webinar attendees who are present for 75% or more of the talk and complete a written reflection form.
