As we gather in Los Angeles for the National Nursing Ethics Conference (NNEC), nurses explore the intersection of nursing and ethics in clinical practice. The conference is committed to a belief that clinical work requires developing an expertise in recognizing and responding to the moral questions that arise in healthcare. We are privileged to be able to do this together in community, to collectively learn from each other and creatively develop practical approaches to the ethical challenges we face. National ethics leaders, nurses, and an author will address those issues in ways that inspire you. NNEC acknowledges the challenging work of ethics and builds in an opportunity for dialogue, reflection, skill building, and a sense of being valued and cared for. The environment of the conference center on the UCLA campus located in Westwood Village, creates respite through art, an outdoor space, and beautiful rooms, as well as healthy California cuisine, breakfast, lunch, and breaks, as well as a reception on the veranda – all are included in the registration.
We believe the theme this year, “Claiming Meaning and Purpose in Nursing: Why It Matters” will guide us as we come to understand both the roots that ground us, the nourishment needed to sustain us, and paths and actions to enhance our professions future.
