Call for a Book Review Editor for the American Journal of Bioethics Neuroscience (AJOB Neuroscience)
We are seeking to appoint a Book Review Editor to fill a new position to meet the journal’s goal for the publication of book reviews. The editor would assume sole responsibility for AJOB Neuroscience book reviews. The initial appointment would be for two years beginning mid-February 2024.
AJOB Neuroscience publishes articles aiming to investigate topics relating to ethics and brain sciences, encouraging the exploration of the social and legal dimensions of neuroscience.
AJOB Neuroscience produces 4 issues per year, and currently only publishes occasional book reviews. However, we are looking to enhance successive issues with the help of a qualified and motivated book review editor. The Book Review Editor would be expected to:
● Be responsible for managing the overall process of obtaining and completing book reviews;
● Collaborate with a range of international publishers to obtain books/learning materials for potential review in the journal;
● Edit and proofread submitted reviews to the required standard;
● Ensure that reviewers and publishers are informed when reviews have been published;
● Assist in managing and maintaining a list of international reviewers for the journal;
● Attend a monthly editorial meeting;
● Use Manuscript Central as an online tool to manage the review process;
● Be responsible to, and work with, the Editor-in-Chief of the journal as necessary.
We are looking for someone who has a publication record in neuroethics and is seeking to develop a track record of leadership in this area. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience of journal publication and would suit an early/mid-career academic with training in neuroscience and/or ethics.
If you would like to apply, please send a full CV and expression of interest (describing what you would bring to the role) to the Editor-in-Chief, Professor Veljko Dubljević, veljko_dubljevic@ncsu.edu, and CC editorial intern Ariana D’Alessandro, amdaless@ncsu.edu by January 1, 2024.
