The Ethics Program at Wellstar Health System in Atlanta, Georgia invites applicants for a two
year, full time clinical ethics fellowship that is structured to prepare graduates with the necessary
knowledge, skills, and abilities to become competent professional clinical ethicists. Fellows train with
one of the largest and most active services in the nation.
The fellowship offers:
• Comprehensive clinical ethics consultation training from a team of experienced clinical
ethicists in a high volume service (over 850 annual consults) with progressive independence.
• Opportunities to develop a portfolio of formal lectures through teaching to a variety of
healthcare learners in various formats.
• Development of skills in research and quality improvement methods.
• Opportunities to collaborate in research projects and papers with other members of the Ethics
Program, including leading projects and first authorship on papers.
•Onsite, formal skills training with professional actors and national clinical ethics experts on
communication skills, moral distress support, and conflict management.
•Collegial and friendly work environment where informal mentorship of fellows is expected and
maintained from the entire Ethics Program staff, in addition to a formal mentor for
individualized support.
Applicants will be considered from professionals who have terminal post
graduate degrees (MD, JD, PhD) in medicine, philosophy, nursing, social work, religious studies, law, and other related fields.
The starting fellowship salary is $53,760. Additional benefits include healthcare, paid time off, mileage
reimbursement, and a budget for travel to ethics conferences and other professional development
opportunities.

reach those career goals. If you are applying as an ABD candidate for a pre-doctoral fellowship, please also include: your dissertation project and its relation to clinical ethics, its current level of completion,
your projected timeline, and how you envision integrating your dissertation research
throughout your fellowship.
3. One to three examples of scholarly writing (preferably to include at least one published or
peer reviewed paper).
4. Three letters of recommendation (submitted directly).
