The Montefiore Einstein Bioethics Fellowship is a competitive one-year clinical ethics fellowship with opportunities for mentored scholarship and teaching. The Fellowship aims to prepare its graduates for careers in bioethics consultation and bioethics education.
Fellows will engage in high-level study of bioethics with both guided and self-driven academic curriculum. Fellows will spend the bulk of their year learning to perform ethics consultation in real-time with our dynamic interdisciplinary faculty in the setting of our high-volume service. Fellowship graduates will be qualified to independently conduct clinical ethics consultations and will have completed the eligibility requirements for the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities' Healthcare Ethics Consultation Certification examination. Fellows will participate in bioethics case conferences, will sit on the institution’s bioethics committee, will complete intensive bioethics mediation training, and will deliver presentations to the clinical ethics community. Dependent on qualifications, fellows will also have opportunities to teach in medical student curriculum, resident case conferences, clinical staff education sessions, and within our bioethics and medical humanities certificate and master's degree programs. Funding for professional development and conference attendance is available.
The fellowship offers a competitive salary and commensurate benefits. Fellows must be physically on site at our hospital(s) for the majority of weekday work hours.
