The Institute for Bioethics & Health Humanities (IBHH) at the University of Texas Medical Branch invites applications for the Clinical Ethics Fellowship, which provides the opportunity for intensive training in clinical ethics consultation in a variety of healthcare settings and diverse patient populations, including critical care, pediatrics, OBGYN, etc. The Fellow will learn a relational approach to ethics consultation informed by the health humanities and conduct research on bioethics and health humanities in line with their interests. The Fellow will increase the points of contact between the Clinical Ethics Consultation Service and patients, families, faculty, and staff at our Galveston and other campuses. The Fellowship program is tailored to meet the strengths and needs of each fellow, and involves a one-year, full-time commitment with an option to extend for an additional year at the program director’s discretion.

Candidates must have a PhD, JD, or MD (or equivalent), with preference given to candidates with doctorates in bioethics, philosophy, theology, nursing, behavioral sciences, social sciences, medicine, or law. Candidates should have strong communication skills, experience working with diverse teams, and be able to work both collaboratively and independently to achieve goals. Familiarity with patient care in a hospital setting is preferred.

Review of the application will begin immediately, and applications received before December 31, 2024, will be given full consideration.
