The Department and Institute of Bioethics and Health Humanities (BHH), housed in the School of
Public and Population Health at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, invites
applications for a tenure-track faculty position to begin as early as August 2025.
We seek an exceptional scholar to serve as Graduate Program Director for our suite of academic
offerings, which include a Certificate, Masters, MPH Bioethics Track, and PhD programs. Our
graduate program currently serves approximately 20 students, and we are committed to strategic
growth and program enhancement.

This position offers a dynamic opportunity to impact graduate education while maintaining a robust
research portfolio:
• 20% effort dedicated to Graduate Program Director responsibilities, including program
administration, recruitment, advising, and curriculum development.
• 30% effort allocated to education, including teaching two small graduate seminars per
year
• 50% effort reserved for independent research (the research area is open).
Qualifications:
• A PhD, JD, or MD (or equivalent) degree
• Demonstrated commitment to graduate education with proven experience in mentoring and advising
students.
• A strong record of scholarship in bioethics and health humanities, including skills in
collaborating across disciplines.
• Capacity to collaborate across disciplines
The successful candidate will receive competitive compensation, start-up funds, research support,
and institutional commitment to career development. This is a hard money position.
