PURDUE UNIVERSITY MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH ONLINE LECTURER POSITION AVAILABLE
Applications are invited for the position of Online Lecturer for the Online Master of Public Health Program within the Department of Public Health, College of Health and Human Sciences, Purdue University (located in West Lafayette, IN). Online Lecturers hold annual appointments, teach a 4-4-4 workload, and engage in service to the program and department. This position is 100% remote.
Department of Public Health: The Department is committed to conducting outstanding research, educating students in a diverse and inclusive environment, and promoting health through engagement with the public. It is home to 40 tenured/tenure-track and clinical faculty and limited-term lecturers, 250 graduate students, and over 185 undergraduate students. Degrees currently offered include the BS (major in Public Health), MPH (online, residential), MS in Public Health, Master of Health Administration (online), and PhD in Public Health. The MPH is a CEPH-accredited program and the Department is a member of the ASPPH.
College of Health and Human Sciences: The College is the third largest at Purdue and includes nine academic units that hold national and international recognition for their fundamental scientific and programmatic contributions to improving the health of individuals and communities. Position Requirements: All applicants must hold a PhD, DrPH, or another doctoral degree in Public Health or a closely related field from an accredited school or program. An MPH is desirable, but not required. Applicants must have college teaching experience at the graduate level, online experience is preferred. Candidates with experience and interest in experiential learning are preferred, as the teaching load is likely to include oversight of the Public Health Practicum and Culminating Project courses, but may include other courses, as needed. Regardless of academic specialty, applicants should have a strong understanding of and appreciation for public health issues and concerns. Desirable attributes include a record of published research and/or community-engaged projects, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to the development and advancement of graduate students in an online environment. Applicants with a demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion are preferred.
Additional qualities to serve our Family and Community Health Concentration, the only concentration the online MPH program currently offers, include 1) an understanding of health promotion theories, models and best practices to address challenges to the health of families and communities; 2) development of approaches to prevent, mitigate or correct challenges to the health of families and communities; and 3) experience identifying and critically evaluating the factors that create, perpetuate and may ultimately eliminate health disparities.
