The Mayo Clinic Biomedical Ethics Research Program seeks
applicants for a one to two-year post-baccalaureate research
experience who have an interest in conducting research on
topics in bioethics using empirical methods. This program is
designed for individuals with a bachelor’s degree and is
particularly well suited for students seeking a gap year
between undergraduate and graduate studies.
Research assistants are expected to dedicate 40 hours a
week to their research projects and related activities.
Through close collaboration with experienced bioethics
researchers, research assistants gain skills in empirical
research methods, study design, and data collection
(including semi-structured interviews, surveys, and focus
groups) in a supportive team-based environment. Research
assistants may also gain skills in qualitative and quantitative
data analysis and scholarly writing.
Research assistants will have the opportunity to participate
in selected graduate classes and seminars while working in
this role. Past trainees have gone on to study at graduate,
medical and law schools across the United States.
Up to three candidates will be selected to begin in
Summer 2026. Interested applicants should apply to job

Ethics- Limited Tenure; Job Number: 364260 at https://
