The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a talented Research Ethics and Integrity Specialist in Silver Spring, Maryland.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Candidate shall provide analysis, policy development, training, and evaluation for research ethics and scientific integrity initiatives at WRAIR., and expertise to the HSPB.

Tasks include:
Assist with designing, organizing, and conducting regular responsible conduct research (RCR), scientific integrity, and research ethics training sessions for investigators and research staff at all sites, CONUS and OCONUS. Prepare materials and update materials in response to new information and policy, develop interactive training sessions, conduct regular evaluations of training sessions (for example, pre and post surveys), and analyze and respond to feedback regarding training sessions.

Review regulations, policies, guidelines, and best practices in research ethics and human research.

Oversight, and scientific integrity domains; compile information on RCR and research ethics issues for staff and develop policy and guidance as needed. Attend relevant conferences addressing RCR, scientific integrity, and research ethics issues in order to update policies and practice as needed to stay current with best practices in the field.

According to needs identified by federal personnel, carry out empirical research on selected topics in research ethics, RCR, scientific integrity, or human research oversight. Empirical research projects may involve qualitative or quantitative methodologies, or both. Additional methods may include consultative approaches and stakeholder engagement.

Support program oversight and training regarding best practices in scientific research, including confidential reporting, tracking, collection of information, and expert guidance on handling and adjudicating potential problems within the arena of responsible conduct and best scientific practices.

Work independently in generating appropriate strategies, outlines and work plans, carrying out research in a self-directed manner, preparing written summaries and reports, giving oral presentations and seminars, and producing publication quality documents.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Minimum of Bachelors (MA/MS and/or PhD highly preferred, in Bioethics, Social Science or Science field)

Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a biomedical or health-related scientific research field.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate must possess two of the four following skills/experience:

Strong scientific background.

Especially desirable to have background in biomedical science (either lab science or clinical research, or both).

Knowledge and experience working on Bioethics, Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR), scientific integrity, or related issues

Qualitative and/or quantitative research skills and experience

Experience designing and conducting education and training activities in a scientific context
