Abstract
We live in a paradoxical world. Marijuana use is increasingly becoming more normalized whereas tobacco use is increasingly stigmatized. In the first half of the 20th century, physicians reflected general social norms by smoking cigarettes at a high level (Gardner and Brandt 2006). Such behavior has drastically changed over the last several decades. According to Gallup survey data from 2012, only 4% of US physicians smoke.
