We are recruiting an open rank, tenure track/tenured faculty member with expertise in clinical ethics consultation to begin as early as September 2024. This position is within The Department and Institute of Bioethics and Health Humanities (IBHH), housed in the School of Public and Population Health at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. This faculty member will devote up to 50% of their time to the clinical ethics consultation service and will likely teach one or two small graduate seminars per year. The research area is open.

Applicants should have a PhD, JD, or MD (or equivalent) and experience as a clinical ethics consultant. They should also have a record scholarship in bioethics and health humanities, skills in collaborating across disciplines, and a strong commitment to graduate education. The successful candidate will receive start-up funds, research support, and a competitive salary. This is a hard money position.

About the Institute of Bioethics and Health Humanities
The IBHH is committed to moral inquiry, scholarship, teaching, and professional service in medicine, health care, and public health. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary faculty group with training in ethics, humanities, and social sciences. The faculty engage in research, clinical and community service, and the teaching of graduate students and medical and other health professions trainees. The IBHH also offers an ethics consultation service in the university’s health system. The IBHH houses the nation’s only Ph.D. program in Bioethics and Health Humanities.
