The Department of Medical Humanities & Bioethics in the College of Medicine at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks applicants at the level of instructor or assistant professor for an open position with our team of dedicated and experienced faculty.

We seek a candidate who will focus their primary efforts on clinical ethics consultation, serving two major medical systems—the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the state’s only academic health center, and Arkansas Children’s Hospital, which houses the state’s only pediatric intensive care unit and burn center. Candidates for this position should have robust experience in clinical ethics consultation. Responsibilities will also include education of clinical faculty, staff, and trainees.

Given our department’s mission and history, we especially encourage applications from candidates able to support education in health humanities and bioethics.

Applicants for an assistant professor-level appointment must have a terminal degree in one of the following: a humanities or social science discipline, law, medicine, nursing, or other health profession. Master’s degree-level training will be considered for an instructor position. Salary will be commensurate with rank and relevant experience, following the APBD salary survey and AAMC’s national medical school salary survey for PhDs in bioethics. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Applicants should email a cover letter, CV, and 3 names and contact information of references:
