The Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine is hiring a full-time senior  research assistant with strong empirical skills to work on NIH-funded research examining ethical, legal,  and social issues at the intersection of data sharing and privacy (including the use of genetic genealogy  databases to solve crimes, the psychosocial and relational impacts of discovering new genetic relatives   through direct-to-consumer genetic testing, and policy issues related to sharing genomic, neural activity,  and health data to advance research and improve care). This is a non-laboratory research position.   This position will be part of an interdisciplinary team of researchers led by Amy McGuire, JD, PhD, and  Christi Guerrini, JD, MPH.   Baylor College of Medicine fosters diversity among its students, trainees, faculty, and staff as a  prerequisite to accomplishing our institutional mission and setting standards for excellence in training  healthcare providers and biomedical scientists, promoting scientific innovation, and providing patient centered care.   The Center for Medical Ethics & Health Policy has 18 primary faculty members, 34 secondary faculty, 24  scholars, and over 40 fellows and staff, housed on the main Baylor campus in the Texas Medical Center  in Houston, Texas. The Center promotes an intellectually stimulating and collaborative environment  conducive to academic excellence.   For more information about Baylor College of Medicine and the Center for Medical Ethics and Health  Policy, visit our website at www.bcm.edu/ethics   Primary duties and responsibilities:    Assist with instrument development (interview/focus group guides, survey experiments, and  Delphi materials) and data collection    Conduct interviews/focus groups and participate in qualitative data analysis   Help organize modified policy Delphi process, including developing materials and analyzing data  to develop policy options and best practices   Lead and assist with publishing research findings as manuscripts for relevant academic journals   Present project findings at local, national, and international meetings    Perform other job-related duties as assigned   Minimum Qualifications    Bachelor’s degree in bioethics, humanities, public health, social sciences, or related field   Experience Required: Four years of relevant experience   Preferred Qualifications    Education Preferred: Master’s degree in bioethics, humanities, public health, social sciences or  related field    Experience with qualitative data collection and analysis preferred; experience with qualitative  data analysis programs preferred (e.g., Dedoose, nVivo)    Experience with quantitative data analysis preferred    Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills required; must be able to work  independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines    Track record of publications in scientific and/or medical journals preferred   Strong interest in bioethics, health policy, genomics and/or related legal issues   Experience with ethical issues in genomics preferred   How to Apply   Those interested in this position should submit a resume, writing sample and cover letter indicating  their desire to be considered.
