The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Department of Medical Ethics (DME) is now accepting applications for a newly created full-time position of Medical Ethics Expert. Specifically, we are seeking someone to help us with the full range of DME activities including pediatric clinical ethics consultation, education and engagement of staff, and creating partnerships to enhance the quality of ethical decision-making throughout the institution.
Primary responsibilities of this position include:
– Education and engagement of CHOP staff regarding medical ethics (while the posted job description mentions nursing staff specifically, we have broadened this responsibility to include other staff)
– Conduct of pediatric clinical ethics consultations
– Support of the CHOP Ethics Committee
– Development, review and revision of ethically pertinent CHOP policies
– Wide-ranging efforts to improve the ethical quality of CHOP staff conduct
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
– Master’s degree
– Seven years related ethics experience
– Five years clinical ethics consultation experience
– Three years of supervisory or management experience
