We are seeking one postdoctoral fellow to work with the Purdue Puentes Project (PPP) an NIMHD funded project examining the health, adjustment, and well-being of Latinx youth (ages 10-15) in rural and agricultural worker families in the Midwest. The Puentes Project is an interdisciplinary project co-led by Dr. Yumary Ruiz, Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health and Dr. Zoe Taylor, Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at Purdue University. This project aims to advance understanding of the risk factors that are detrimental to the health and well-being of youth in seasonal and agricultural families, to identify resilience processes that counteract salient life stressors, and to assess the effects of mobility on adolescent outcomes. The Postdoc will join a dynamic team that consists of existing postdocs, graduate students, full-time staff, and undergraduate students.

We expect the postdoc will spend their time in roughly the following activities: (1) Data analysis and manuscript dissemination (60-70%); (2) Project management and engagement (15-20%); and (3) Data management (15-20%). The Postdoctoral scholar will actively engage and contribute to the intellectual environment of the project and dissemination of results. The postdoctoral scholar will be expected to contribute to manuscripts as both first and secondary authors and will present their research at conferences. The postdoc will be expected (and mentored) to pursue their own research questions to develop their specific research niches. The postdoctoral scholar will develop hands-on, practical research skills through on-going data collection and recruitment activities across a one-year period on a study that is actively working with a marginalized and understudied youth population. They will have opportunities to take active leadership roles in the project to prepare them for independent scholarship as future academics. They will gain skills that include recruitment of hard-to-reach populations, quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques, supervision of a team, and project management and organization skills. The postdoctoral fellow will develop their data management skills and provide mentorship and training to graduate and undergraduates in analyzing the data, cleaning data, creating codebooks, etc.

Salary is 60-65K depending on experience. Travel funds will also be available for conferences and professional development. One-year commitment and residence in West Lafayette, Indiana is required.

Qualifications Include:
A Ph.D. in Public Health/ Human Development & Family Studies/ Developmental Psychology/ or another related field completed by the start of the employment.
Strong analytical skills (including multilevel and longitudinal analyses of nested data) and experience with statistical analysis packages (e.g., MPlus, R, STATA) and/or analyzing qualitative data with experience with analysis packages (e.g., Nvivo).
Knowledge and expertise of underrepresented and minoritized populations (especially Latinx immigrant or farmworker youth and families).
Excellent writing skills and publication record in peer-reviewed academic journals.
Ability to work independently as well as be part of a team.
Ability to provide mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students on the project.
Great organization skills and attention to detail.
Spanish language skills are a plus.
