The IBHH is committed to moral inquiry, scholarship, teaching, and professional service in medicine, health care, and public health. The mission of SPPH is leading innovative public health education, translational research, and evidence-informed practice and policy through authentic collaborations in the Gulf Coast region, Texas, and the world. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary faculty group with training in ethics, humanities, and social sciences. The faculty engage in research, clinical and community service, and the teaching of graduate students and medical and other health professions trainees. The IBHH also offers an ethics consultation service in the university’s health system. The IBHH houses the nation’s only Ph.D. program in Bioethics and Health Humanities. Candidates must have a PhD, JD, or MD with research and teaching interests in health humanities and/or bioethics. Preferred qualifications include experience in an academic health center, and a record of both scholarly publication and graduate-level teaching. We have teaching needs in literature and law and would also welcome individuals qualified to participate in clinical ethics consultation services. We are interested in faculty who will collaborate with other UTMB researchers. Opportunities for research collaborations exist with more than 40 research centers and institutes located on campus, covering a wide range of research interests including aging, rehabilitation sciences, women’s health, environmental health, translational sciences, infectious diseases, vaccines, and bioethics (see www.utmb.edu/centers/ for more information).

Interested applicants must apply online at https://www.utmb.edu/hr/careers (ReqID: 2304200) and submit a letter of interest with a description of experience, research and teaching interests, and career goals, along with their curriculum vitae to the Search Committee (bhh@utmb.edu).
