Position Summary

We seek a dynamic, energetic Program Director to develop, coordinate, and implement academic programming and operations in the Division of Ethics. Working directly with the Division Chief, the Program Director will manage a growing program of interdisciplinary faculty and staff engaged in bioethics research and teaching across a full range of activities, including daily operations, strategic planning, and implementation of new projects. This position will involve working collaboratively with other divisions and departments, grant-funded initiatives, and multi-institutional partners. The ideal candidate has a proven record of innovating programs and taking initiative to create and implement outreach and educational initiatives. This position will involve managing staff, leading communications, and managing financial and administrative details. The Program Director role is a full-time position and reports to the Division Chief and the Department Administrator.

Responsibilities

Direct communications, marketing and fund-raising and outreach for the Division
Oversee project management, including managing staff, budgets, program planning and implementation.
Plan and coordinate meetings, workshops, seminars, lectures and other events
Support and implement strategic plans for division programs and initiatives
Support all aspects of research administration, including grant applications, human subjects, budgets, reporting, and publications
Implement and oversee outreach plans, including the division calendar, website, social media and newsletter
Communicate and coordinate with other departmental divisions and related university programs
Travel to approximately 2-3 professional meetings a year representing the Division

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in the social sciences, bioethics, communications, marketing and/or other related field
Experience in web design and familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and other design tools
Familiarity with NIH grant funding administration

Other Requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and workflow and project management tools
Demonstrated interest in ethics
Ability to think strategically and demonstrate effective leadership
Outstanding written and oral communication and presentation skills
Effectively manages others, sets priorities, and meets multiple competing deadlines
Outstanding organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills and judgement
Experience using social media and other outreach tools
